‘Champagne’ Currency trader arrested

Just last month, this young 23 year old British trader was hitting the headlines after dropping £150,000 on a single bottle of champagne. However, the market whizzkid has once again hit the headlines, only this time for the wrong reasons.

Having been arrested on suspicion of operating an unauthorized foreign exchange trading scheme, his apartment in the Docklands area of London was raided early Wednesday.

A spokesman for the FSA, the regulating body for all financial services in the UK said, ‘A 23 year old man was arrested on suspicion of committing offences under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and the Fraud Act 2006.’

The FSA said: ‘No further details can be confirmed at this time. The arrest is not linked to any other FSA investigations.’

In March, Alex Hope, ordered a bottle of  99lb Nebuchadnezzar champagne, which is the equivalent of 40 standard ones. It needed two waiters to carry out to him and his friends. He also ordered 40 single bottles of Ace of Spade champagne along with £4,000 worth of Grey Goose vodka, which he handed them out to women there.
